Bissell 1719 Description

The Bissell SpotLifter is a convenient hand held carpet cleaner designed for immediate cleaning of spills and spots as they happen. The SpotLifter combines powerful suction and brush agitation in order to easily lift spots and remove them from your carpeting. It is the handiest carpet cleaning device ideal for cleaning spills, removing stains, and cleaning pet poop on carpets.

The Bissell SpotLifter is cordless and runs on 9.5V power with built-in rechargeable batteries. It features a large back tank where you can mix cleaning agents and water. You can easily spray the cleaning mixture of the SpotLifter on affected areas of your carpet and start power brushing by simply switching on the thumb button. This carpet cleaner will clean a seven-inch wide path. The suction will lift dirty suds and water as well as debris and will flow directly to the front collection tank. The collection tank can be easily removed by a switch release button for easier disposal of dirty water.

The Bissell SpotLifter can provide full power cleaning action of up to 15 minutes. After which, the battery must be recharged for a full 12 hours. This is the perfect hand held device for cleaning, sanitizing, and deodorizing of fresh carpet spills and spots.

This is good for getting up spots caused by dirt but don't expect to get up many pet stains with this thing. I have an indoor cat that vomits on the rug from time to time. This thing did NOTHING to get that stain out of the rug. Even after multiple passes.

This little cleaner is super if you have a new puppy you are trying to housebreak. The bad things about it are as follows: In order to get the dirty water tank off you have to have a case knife to pry the tank as you push the button. The dirty water tank is a trick....if you are not careful the dirty water will pour out of the tank where you dont think about it coming out...it will pour out and not from the place you are supposed to empty it....so you better be careful when you dump it. Otherwise it is very handy to clean up pee messes, you can suck up the pee and spray the cleaner and suck it up for a cleanup. It is very compact and very handy even with its faults. I would buy again.

I've had mine for about two years and while it's excellent for very small areas (about 1 to 1-1/2 square feet), it's really intended for spots about the size of a pet stain or spilled juice. Some problems I've experienced over the past two years: 1) Battery life is marginal. I can get one, maybe two spots cleaned and then the unit needs to be charged overnight. So, if I have another spot, it waits until tomorrow. 2) The suction is decent, but in many cases (for me, at least) not quite adequate. I would recommend a good plug-in wet-dry vac to really get the water out. You'll find this device only sucks out about half the water it lays down. Good, but wish it were better. On the plus side: 1) It's compact! It can go on trips in the van. And it fits in small spaces. 2) When you have a small spill, it's very convenient vs. dragging out an orchestra of cleaning devices, liquids, and tools. Mixed thoughts: 1) The cleaning solution intended for this device is good, but I have had equal success with regular household cleaners (mild dish soap) and water on certain spills. Sometimes (if your carpet can handle it) Simple Green works reasonably well. The big drawback with the cleaning solution is that it's outrageously priced for the quantity you get. Overall, it's a decent machine, but it's not terribly useful for general household cleaning or when you have a regular procession of stains to clean.

I've had none of the problems that other people have commented on. This works great for me! When my new puppy has a slip-up all I have to do is grab the Spotlifter and off I go to clean up the mess. I've had no odor coming from the machine and I've found that cleaning the machine takes only a minute. I've never had a problem with suds coming out of vents or such- maybe too much solution is being used by others, I don't know. I find the the 'fill line' capacity is plenty big for what I use my Spotlifter for. It doesn't fill with suds in 10 seconds as mentioned by others. But then again, I'm using mine for spot removal, not to clean my whole carpet.... The one defect that I find is that removing the front tank which holds the dirty water is difficult to take off because you automatically hit the squirt button under the handle when pulling off the front tank. THAT is something that Bissel needs to redesign! Other than that - I love it.

Works well on stains. The sooner you get to them the better. The instructions tell you to not over saturate the surface you are cleaning and it works better if you don't.
