SteamFast SF- Description |
Lets start with a quick list of the functionalities the SteamFast SF-292 can serve: upright steam mop; floor deodorizer and sanitizer; handheld steam cleaner; fabric steamer; toys sanitizer; window squeegee – it can even be used to remove wrinkles from clothing items! When used as an upright steam mop, the SteamFast SF-292 Multi-Purpose Floor Mop and Handheld Steam Cleaner will work in such a way that it can clean, deodorize and sanitize hard-floor surfaces like tiles, sealed hardwood and vinyl.
The SteamFast SF-292 has a powerful 1,300-Watt motor which offers a green way to clean and sanitize your carpets. What it mainly does is remove molds, fungus, mildew, hard-to-remove stains, grease and grime. With the help of pressurized steam produced by the powerful motor, you can easily make use of the product to deal with the most difficult cleaning challenges.
The good thing about using this all-in-one cleaning device is that you do not need to spend a lot of money purchasing all the individual household items mentioned earlier. The SteamFast SF-292 can simply be converted from an upright floor mop into a fabric steamer in a matter of seconds. The machine comes with a full set of accessories, including: utility brush, mop squeegee, cleaning pin, a utility head for fabric steaming and more.

Summary: Great Mop. Bad Quality |
| |
The mop is excellent. Works just like it says and more. My only complaints are that the water tank is too small. The accessories fall apart easily. The parts are too small to clean a big shower. It takes too long. And my biggest complaint? The handle broke off. Now I cant mop my floor. I now need to return the mop for a replacement.
UPDATE: I returned the mop and they sent me a new one at no charge. Not even a week passes and something steps on the mop cause I found a crack in it. The mop is still usable but im very annoyed. The mop head broke and now the pads keep falling off. This mop now deserves a 2 star rating. The mop works great but is made very cheaply. This mop should cost $50 not $80.

Summary: Great mop! |
| |
Works great as a mop on my laminate floors. Ready to go in about 20-30 seconds. Got up the nasties on my floor. You have to run it on low while mopping, then if you need it to blast off something really gross, turn it up to high, then back down to low, otherwise you will soak your floor. This is not a scrubber. I love that the pads are washable and that if I use up both the mop pads it's easy to attach a small towel instead and keep mopping. I also love that I didn't have to use any chemicals, especially with my baby crawling all over the floor.
The scrubber attachments are only for small jobs. You will not be able to scrub shower walls with them (what I was trying to do). Would work great for around sink faucets, BBQ grills, oven racks, grout, etc.
Love the squeegee attachment. Got the mirrors clean, just had to wipe afterward with a dry cloth, no streaks! Plan on using it to keep the shower clean every week now that I scrubbed it clean the old-fashioned way.
The clothes steaming attachment worked for a few minutes, then the cloth over the end got too wet and started getting my clothes wet, so you can only steam the wrinkles out of about 2-3 shirts before you've got to dry the cloth.
Love that the handle is telescoping and removable depending on the job and didn't feel flimsy at all while mopping. It is easy to adjust the handle length (after you figure out the arrows) and easy to take off to use as a hand-held steamer. The cord clips on the handle are not big enough to hold the whole cord, but I managed with a little creative coiling. The cord is fairly long (about 15 feet) and I was able to do my whole kitchen without re-plugging.

Summary: You may want to buy this |
| |
I have had this steam mop for 1 year. I have been thinking of replacing it, hoping to find a more improved mop but so far, I think this is the best. Here is the bad news: the cord is too short and there is no on/off switch, other than unplugging it from the outlet. So, as your mopping and run out of cord slack, you have to leave it steaming on your floor or carry it with you to unplug it. Dumb! It only comes with 1 washable cloth that has a drawstring on it. Before you wash it, tie the strings together tight, because the string works its way out of the cloth and I've had to re-string it 3 times. Again, dumb! Also, if you want extra cloths, which of course you will need them, you have to order them from the manufacturer and they are not cheap.
The good news, is that it has a steam dial, so you can decide how much steam you need for your situation, which eliminates water build-up left on the floor that so many people complain about with other mops. The head swivels too, and it can reach under much skinnier spaces.
I have wood laminate throughout my apt. and this mop sanitizes and takes away dirt and odor from pets. I love not having to use chemicals. You don't have to scrub anything. The steam literally lifts off the dirt and the cloth pad takes it away. If you can live with the inconvinence of the aforementioned, you will have very clean floors with no streaking.

Summary: Easy to use, more than just a steam mop |
| |
I bought this item primarily because my sister-in-law was so happy with how easy her new Haan steam mop made floor cleaning. I've been getting more and more tired of dragging out the old sponge mop and bucket and cleaner, and scrubbing then rinsing then shining our older linoleum floor. Also, I have asthma and the various cleaners seem to bother me more and more lately. The "green" cleaners are easier on the lumgs but never seemed to clean as well.
After reading the reviews about the SteamFast SF-292, and seeing that price was much more budget-friendly than the Haan my sister-in-law recommended, I took the plunge and ordered it. With Super-Saver shipping, I ordered it on Tuesday and it was delivered on Wednesday.
Like some of the other reviews stated, we did have some problems getting the handle to extend but my husband finally used his pipe wrench and got it loosened up enough to extend the handle to full length. I hten experimented by cleaning the kitchen floor and it came out looking and feeling nice and clean. The mop was surprisingly easy to use and to store afterward. The hissing sound of the steam was even kind of relaxing.
Today I had to clean our carpets and decided to try steaming some of the dirtier areas before I went over it with our Bissell carpet cleaner. I just used the nozzle and "swept" the steam over the carpet, then ran the carpet cleaner as usual. Wow! What a very pleasant surprise! I didn't even add any cleaning solution to the carpet cleaner and the off-white carpet now looks brighter and cleaner than it has in ages. And all without a single wheeze from me. Not using solution left the carpet feeling softer and fluffier, too. I have no doubt the "pre-steaming" made the big difference.
This product is nicely made, easy to use, and priced very reasonably. I would definitely recommend it. Being very frugal, I don't make "larger" purchases like this easily but am glad I splurged this time!

Summary: Not impressed |

I bought my SteamFast 292 last year and used it only couple of times because it's too inconvenient. I haven't used any other brand steamer so the others may have the same Pros & Cons. If you plan to use this steamer as a mop, forget it. Even with a low temp setting as recommended by other ratings it leaves enough water on the floor that forces you to use the mop afterwards. Would that defeat the purpose? You decide.
Pros:
You can use any piece of towel for pads so you are stuck with manufacturer pads.
The pivot head get it around the corners and under the tables
Has multifunction purpose although I am not sure if I want to use it as the clothes steamer after using it in my restroom.
With high steam temperature it's a good means of disinfecting the surface.
Cons:
The telescopic handle (made for ease of shipment) is the weakest link of the design because mine is about to break right where it enters the steamer reservoir. It's cheaper than the telescopic handle of $5 squeegee.
The cord dispenser hooks must be the design of a 5 year old because the short distance between the two hooks result a long part of the cord just hanging in the air.
It leaves enough water on tiles-even with the lowest temp setting-that forces you to use the mop afterwards; but in my opinion that's normal for high steam touching the cold floor.
The floor must already be clean of any dust otherwise the pad leaves all kinds of dirt when you pull back the steamer.
