Summary: Love my new steam mop! |
| |
I bought the Euro S3501 steam mop after reading reviews and borrowing another model from my daughter to try. I am so glad I got this model because of the swivel head and the fact that I can flip the pad over and get two sides. I have a LOT of ceramic tile and it took four sides (2 pads) to do my floors. I found that the spots come up easily with a little concentrated steam and the floor generally comes clean with simple wiping motions. The residual moisture dries quickly and if the pad is relatively clean there are no streaks. I was afraid there would be puddles but not so. I'm cheerfully saying goodbye to my mop and bucket.

Summary: Very Please |
| |
My husband and I recently purchased this product from Lowe's. We have been really pleased with it. We have ceramic tile throughout our house. It cleans and sanitizes the floors very well. We have two dogs who track mud into the house. The steam mop quickly picked up the mud and dirt.
Will it make your floors shine like they are new? No. The only way to do that is to get new floors. Will it clean your floors? Yes. Most people who don't like this hold it up to a little too high of a standard.

Summary: Extra benefits! |
| |
I am really happy with this product! It not only cleans my floors well I want to point out a few extra benefits of the steam system.
1. I have older hardwood floors and my cat got it in her head to urinate behind one of my floor plants directly on the hardwood floor. The smell was terrible. I tried lemon, pine cleaners ,etc. It seemed OK but on damp days if you went past the area you smelled it (even years after the cat passed away). It was horrible. Once I got this machine I went over the spot (easy to see as it discolored the floor) several times and let the steam penetrate the floor. No more kitty odor on damp days!!!
2. Then I got a Yorkie.....cute critters, but even though he was fixed he had a thing for one corner in my dining room. I tried sprays to keep him away but they did not work, and they smelled foul. I noticed after I steamed the area a few times he doesn't seem interested any longer. I am not sure here, but maybe the steam killed the scent?
3. "Scotch" tape on hardwood floors. I had a few pieces of "Scotch" tape on my hardwood from kids doing projects. I didn't want to scrape it for fear of scratching my floor and I tried rubbing alcohol but it was ineffective. I held the steam over the spots for a few seconds and then lightly scratched it with my fingernail and off it came, without ruining the floor. Then I went back over the area and the pad cleaned up the remaining residue!
4. Flea control! One of the main reasons I made this purchase was because I have 3 dogs and I can just imagine what comes in on their paws, or on their fur. I cleaned my floors regularly with a pine cleaner but my area rugs only a few times a year, though I vacuum often. I am vehmently opposed to the popular flea and tick control that we have been brainwashed into using, fearing that long term use is dangerous to our pets, and use natural flea control instead. Part of that flea control is steaming my area rugs weekly with this machine. It is so easy to use the rug attachment. Now I can't 100% prove there are fleas or flea eggs in my rugs brought in by my dogs, but I have had no incidence of fleas and I believe that the steam surely helps, plus if freshens the carpets between cleanings. I also steam the dogs beds between washings.
I think this machine is well designed and very versitile. I have only had it about 3 months, but I have high hopes that it gives me years of reliable service!

Summary: CARPET CHALLENGE |
| |
I, like so many other people these days, obsess over reviews of the product before buying. Unfortunately, in this society, it's really the only way to "sample" a product because retailers are limited on accepting returns.
Fortunately, my friend, who has tile, linoleum, hardwood and carpeted floors purchased one a year before I even knew this thing existed. A couple of months ago, she let me try it on my new vinyl floor in the kitchen. I just went over my floor with my regular vacuum cleaner to pick up anything I tracked in on my shoes and 15 seconds after plugging the Shark into the wall, I heard hissing, steam started coming out, and I just moved it back andn forth and in under 2 minutes I had the entire kitchen floor glistening. It didn't leave streaks. It was already dull because it's a "matte" finish floor, so the dull didn't bother me one bit.
My sister borrowed it and was amazed that her bathroom was cleaned in less than 5 minutes. She and her teenage daughter spray so much hairspray that she'd literally get on her hands and knees every Saturday and "chisel" the floor with her fingernail and chemicals trying to scrub the hair products that fell on the floor. She said it would take almost a full hour to get the floor clean each week. The Shark Steam Mop handled that in less than 5 minutes and probably only because she goes over it 3 or 4 times but it didn't even need it. It's just fun to use! She used it on her hardwood kitchen floors and it left it clean in 10 minutes.
That was proof enough for me to go ahead and buy one. I got mine at a discount close out store (Big Lots) refurbished in a box with a warranty for $79. It was like brand new. No scuffs or marks, new pads, and I had to assemble it which took less than a minute. I even clean my mom's unfinished basement floor (which looks clean anyway) and it would remove stuff you can't even see! My mom is a clean freak and gets on her hands and knees (with a toothbrush!) and cleans her kitchen floor. You can literally eat off of it. We steamed that and even then a little dirt came up on the pad! Now my mom wants one.
The biggest test, and pay attention pet owners, is "the carpet challenge." Walking into my dad's and stepmom's house was getting bad. Two dogs with potty problems because of old age. No matter how much they shampoo their carpets with some $300 shampoo carpet contraption, no matter how many Chlorox wipes... it smelled like dogs definitely lived there. The dogs, themselves, didn't even smell. It was just what they left behind!
We started with the kitchen tile. The floor is only a couple of years old and because of the stuff spilled or having pet urine on the grout, would stain and discolor it. They're not dirty people; they just have old pets! I ran over the grout twice with the steamer and it literally PULLED the smell out of the grout and restored the original grout color. It was like a whole new floor all over, again! Ok... I digress.
The most amazing part was the CARPET. The Shark Steam Mop deluxe comes with a plastic rectangle that the mop just rests on. It helps glide over carpets with the white microfiber pad. We started on the rug the dinner table is on. The corner (I made my dad sniff it to his disgust) was bad. I steamed the corner for a couple of minutes and there was barely an odor left. I moved around the house for a bit and came back to the rug and re-steamed it and now it smelled like new rug. No pet odor. No pee smell. It even had a restored color (was kind of fading). I spent about 5 hours on his carpets and rugs in 5 rooms (steaming room w/o rugs then steaming the rugs). It worked great! Steaming the carpet doesn't go as quickly as a tile or hard floor but it works. One rug that was about to be pitched because of odor is like brand new. It has no smell, the color is a little more vibrant, and did I mention NO SMELL?! The steam actually smelled GOOD as it was deodorizing the carpets. The carpets were also damp but only for a few minutes. It dries pretty fast. So, before you rip out your rugs and carpets because of pet smell, try steaming. For $80, I'm sure this saved a lot of money for my dad just wanting to replace even ONE rug!
Now my stepmom/dad and I are proud owners; my sister and mom/stepdad are proud borrowers. My sister plans to buy the handheld steamer soon, so we can clean our sinks, tubs, etc. We are a family obsessed with steam and clean things, so if you're the same... it's definitely worth it!
Disadvantage: It would have been nice if it came with two of the microfiber white pads for each head but that is something I can always purchase later.
Advantage: long cord (I moved through two rooms from an outlet in the hallway) about 30' or so, large steam tank (but used a lot more on carpets), cleans like it promises, deodorizes and freshens carpets like promised, easy to use (push/pull), pivots, rotates, different heads and a carpet glider, uses soft water or distilled water, easily transportable from house to house (I could make a living cleaning with this thing!), takes less than 30 seconds to use once plugged in, pads are reusable/washable, priced just right, no chemicals, fun to use

Summary: Love it. |
| |
I have had this mop for a couple of months now and just love it. I have tile floors in my kitchen and bathrooms and it works wonderful. It is actually fun to use. No more sore knees for me. It is very light weight and easy to maneuver around corners and small spaces. I also use it to remove the dent marks in my carpet when I rearrange the furniture. Just put the mop over the indentation and pump it to steam and the mark puffs up and goes away. If your thinking of buying one...I say do it. I got mine at Kohls with a thirty percent off code and free shipping for about $80.00.
