Bissell 1867 Description |
As the name implies, the Bissell 1867 Steam Mop Bare Floor Steam Cleaner is specifically designed to clean bare floors. For the areas in your home which are not carpeted, it is really quite easy to spill coffee or place other stains on it just as well as on covered floors. This is especially true if you have bare floors in the kitchen where a lot of spillage and accidents occur.
The way that the Bissell 1867 Steam Mop works is through its built-in steam cleaning feature. The device takes 30 seconds to heat up, then when you pull the trigger, steam will directly shoot out on the surface of the floors. The model has a terry-cloth pad which immediately gets rid of the dirt, grime and any other stain left on your bare floors.
Another convenient feature that the Bissell 1867 has is that its floor nozzle is shaped in such a way that you can easily reach through corners so that you will be left with spick-and-span floors. This is made possible with the swivel head which is easily maneuverable making cleaning in between surfaces a lot easier.
More importantly, the Bissell 1867 Steam Mop Bare Floor Steam Cleaner is one of the few steam cleaners in the market which does not require the addition of harsh chemicals – all it needs is tap water and all your cleaning woes will be addressed. Whether you have sealed hardwood floors, marble, linoleum, vinyl, laminate or stone floors, you can rest assured that this machine will do a good and thorough job of cleaning it.

Summary: Was my floor really that dirty? |
| |
This mop causes disgust to rise in me--in the best possible way. A fantastic mop, it gets dirt off your floors that you had no idea was even there.
Although you may be averse to the idea of cleaning your floor with only hot water, let me reassure you: this mop does a better job than any cleaner I've ever used (and I've tried them all!). As a side note, I also just read somewhere that floor cleaners, especially those with oils for hardwood floors, leave a sticky film that attracts dust and requires that they be cleaned sooner. So not only is this mop good for the environment, but it also requires you to clean your floors less often than you normally need to. In addition to cleaning and disinfecting well (by leaving it on a spot for 15 seconds), it is also easy to maneuver. The swivel head allows you to get in almost anywhere. The actual steaming function is most obvious when going in reverse and it is my impression that the best cleaning is done on the draw-back rather when you go forward (imagine vacuuming and you'll know what I mean).
The only downside is that because you're essentially pushing wet cloth against a hard surface, there is indeed some resistance. Therefore, I would not recommend the mop if you are in a physically deteriorated state (i.e. elderly, late stage of a disease, etc.). Also, if you're in a small room (like my tiny bathroom), :) try to leave the door open because this mop can really steam up the room. Finally, as another reviewer mentioned, the mop pads are kind of a pain to get on--Bissell should definitely make them elasticized!
In sum, this mop is incredible. Buy it and you'll love it. It's fairly small and easy to store, but has more cleaning power than you might imagine!

Summary: Great steam mop! |
| |
I purcahsed this mop after reading reviews for the Bissell Flip It and deciding NOT to buy that product. I needed something to clean my hardwood floors. The reviews for this mop enticed me to purchase this one. I was amazed at how well the steam mop works! The proof is in the pads when you it off and see just how much dirt and grime was actually on your floor!
I liked the fact that steam alone was doing the cleaning, not some harsh chemicals. I was a bit concerned about using this on my sealed hardwoods, but it works fine and the steam dries quickly.
I have washed and dried the cloth pads and they do shrink a bit and are more difficult to get on the mop once they are washed and dried, but they do go on.
The only reason I gave the mop 4 stars instead of 5 is the issue on the pads (much harder to get on once washed) and the fact that the mop is harder to push once the mop head pads get wet. You get a workout, but the dirt and grime it picks up is worth it.
Overall, I would hightly recommend the Bissell SteaMop as a good choice if you are looking for a hardwood floor cleaner.

Summary: Hasn't held up well |

I LOVE the concept and how clean it gets the floors (I especially like how it cleans without detergent), BUT I've been using this floor cleaner for less than a year, and it's already breaking. The water squirter has completely stopped working, and it constantly leaks water. Now I'm researching a replacement. Great idea . . . I just wish they made one that was more durable.

Summary: Makes Mopping FUN and easy, I love you Bissell!! |

This is the best mop ever. I have absolutely hated to mop my whole life. Now that I have 3 children, a messy husband and a dog, I hate it even more. My floors usually are terrible because both my babies love to throw their food, drinks and anything else within their reach on the floor. Then my dog has a bladder problem and my husband can't figure out how to take his muddy boots off OUTSIDE! I'm actually a clean freak and have to have everything bleached and antibacterialized (is that a word?) However, mopping has been my achilles heel. I have mopped my floor four times as often since I received this blessed piece of machinery. I have tried the regular mop and bucket, the swiffer, and the ready mop. I have to get on my hands and knees to finish the job with the regular mop and I've bent and broken the handles on the other two because I have to scrub so hard to get the baby food and dried milk off the floor. However, all of that is behind me now. I have mopped every other day for the last two weeks since I bought this mop. Best $70.00 I've ever spent. My floors shine they are so clean and they feel great! Plus I don't have to worry about the germs and the harsh smells that bother my asthma. IT IS WONDERFUL!! Buy one you won't be sorry. foot note: sometimes you do have to pick up a little fuzz afterwards but still a hundred times easier than the old fashioned way.

Summary: Love this Mop |
| |
I bought the Bissell Steam Mop for the same reason, I was tired of using harsh chemicals on my floors. I have a lot of pets and was worried about them injesting the chemicals. I have linoleum tiles in my kitchen and sun room and this mop does a wonderful job. While the mop heads are a little annoying to put on, once you get going, the mop is incredible. It easily cleans up stuck on gunk and between the tiles as long as I rest on the spot and just let the machine steam out the dirt. The one down side is that the mop head can get dirty quickly, so when my floors are really really filty, I use multiple mops in order to get the results I want.
Easy to use, safe and hygenic. Great tool.
